Dear Highline Families,
We are committed to keeping you informed about our response to coronavirus. Here is your daily update.
Speaking with Students about Coronavirus
We recognize that students may be curious, confused or anxious about coronavirus. Our social work staff has developed some tips for talking with children about this outbreak.
Home Learning Resources
To support at-home learning and reinforce in-school learning at home, we have compiled a list of online resources that will provide students with practice using instructional digital tools.
We are also compiling non-digital resources for students and families as we prepare for possible increased absences and/or school closure(s).
This does not replace direct teacher instruction but rather reinforces skills that are either taught in the classroom or have been identified as focus areas from our diagnostic assessment, i-Ready.
Please refer to our Digital Tools-Home Learning Support site that provides information for each tool. Information on this site includes:
- Purpose
- Who has access
- Recommended use
- Links to apps and websites
We will continue to develop and add to this resource.
Middle School Sports
Middle school athletics will be suspended starting Wednesday, March 11. Basketball and wrestling are indoor, high-contact sports and draw larger numbers of spectators. High school sports, which are outdoors and generally draw smaller crowds, will continue.
What To Do If You Suspect Coronavirus
Public Health has specific advice for people who have been confirmed with COVID-19, have been around someone with COVID-19, or are feeling unwell but haven’t been in close contact with someone with COVID-19. Read Public Health guidance.
