In addition to comprehensive neighborhood schools which offer challenging coursework with electives to enhance students’ learning experience, Highline also offers Choice Schools, a variety of alternative program options for middle and high school students, each with their own specialized focus to meet student interest and need. There is also a virtual school for elementary students.
Schools of choice include Big Picture, CHOICE Academy, Raisbeck Aviation High School, Maritime High School, Highline Virtual Academy, the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Mount Rainier High School and Highline Virtual Elementary.
The process to apply to a choice school is now open. Applications are submitted in SchoolMint.
Instructions to use SchoolMint and the application timeline can be found on our Application Information webpage.
Interested students must submit their application by January 31. If there are more applicants than seats available, selection will be done by lottery, followed by a student and parent commitment conversation with members of the school community.
Throughout the winter, schools will host information nights so families and students can explore whether a Choice School might be a good fit. The application for Choice Schools will be open until the end of January.
